Juan Carlos Arenas was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied Music at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, Universidad de Los Andes and at the Conservatorio Nacional de Colombia. He has lived in the UK since 1996. He has been visiting artist at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the Royal Northern College of Music.
JC is now based in the village of Highbridge in Somerset in the South West of England and with easy access to Wales, the Midlands, Bristol and London. In 2023 JC has started offering solo performances in Hospital wards in the South West.
He has played for many years with the sucessful Latin Band Los Musicos and with the Bristol based Big Band Baila La Cumbia.
